As third party devices like Google Glass and Pebble become more common WP8 will become less and less popular simply due to it's inability to integrate with them. These devices are perfect for displaying incoming calls and SMS messages yet right now Andriod will be the only OS capable of displaying this info.

SMS interceptor is already in API so it is only matter of extension of documentation and allow it for normal developers.

If you prepare it for new WP9 (I suppose that MS will follow WP7.5 > WP8 and update will not be possible :-( ) , it is nice. But if it will be for OEM only ? Waste of time and you can spent time on implementation of changing SMS tone on current WP8

I want to add an important point here, and I often wonder why MS has ignored this design point.

Smartphones are becoming everything but a phone. The phone part is still the same, nothing new.

One of the killer feature will be integrating desktop with my phone. Once in my office, I dont want to pick my phone anymore. I just use my desktop to receive calls, make calls, send/receive sms. I want to dial using my desktop and use PC speakers and mic.

Just this one feature can boost the Windows phone sales many times.

I want to intercept all the telemarketers like I can on the android. Also automatic callerid from yellow/white pages. Please add this, the user needs to approve permission so shouldnt be a big privacy issue.

In Iceland people enrolled in the search and rescue get a sms when something happens. That can happend day or night. It would be great if I could intercept those messages analyze them after importance and play a custom rington, flashing, etc (ignoring silent if the emergency is severe ) and even popup a dialog with pre-made response messages. On other platforms people have been using fire alarm apps for this purpose. But they don't exist on windows phone because this feature is missing.

Personally, I could see have a great application that runs in the background that filters calls and texts from people not in your address book and simply blocking them from reaching you. For example, when you get tired of political robo-calls illegally ignoring the national do-not-call list

I want this as native feature :
When incomming call arrive, if I don't answer, it's not redirected to my phone provider (Vodafone, Orange, ...) but it uses my local "answering" app. It takes too long on provider side just to hear "Want to talk, call you back...". so I want it local and NOW!
And better, I want a conversion Sound=>Text, so I can read the message while i'm in meeting.

Please make this as native so you could hit iPhone/Android just in the noze :)

In addition to the ideas mentioned in the previous comments, this would really enable applications with context dependent logic to augment their behavior according to the current needs. It would be really cool to have your phone to react to an incoming call by sending a message to your Surface so that it can display the message history and other information about this particular contact etc. Must have!

Just want an event that will get the call data. I do not want to change and reroute the call.

Yes, currently I'm not able to log incoming/outgoing calls or sms to calendar or implement any kind of call blocker for different type of contacts or per time.
Currently I'm also not able to set Device Sound to silent by specific calendar events or by time.

Just do it add incomming call events and ability to cancle the bubble of the event.

Is so difficult to add to API such siple futures that other phones have?
