Bluetooth 4/ Bluetooth Low Energy API support.
Please add support for Bluetooth Low Energy and Bluetooth 4. This will allow the development of applications that can support existing standard accessories and solutions across platforms. iOS and Android supports BLE. The WP8 hardware supports Bluetooth 4, but the software on WP8 does not allow the use of BLE.

I'm a Windows phone supporter since the begining and a .Net Developper.
Many devices manufacturers (like the Amiigo fitness device) are developing apps only for iPhone & Android...
These devices can use BLE as well, which is currently not implemented on the WP8 OS...Please ease developers making good apps that fill the lack of application in the Store... which is in my opinion the n°1 problem for WP8 Platform.

As a new Windows Phone 8 owner I am very frustrated with it's lack of support for Bluetooth 4. Especially since my device (Nokia Lumia 920) has the necessary hardware. I sincerely hope that the 8.1 update this summer adds support for Bluewtooth 4.0.

For me this would be a killer move. I currently have some devices using ANT+ but want to be able to implement BLE so I don't have to reply on ANT Hardware/Bridge.

Given the industry acceptance of BTLE this has to be added to WP8 and soon.

We have completed development of a hardware device that uses BTLE. Right now it is only supported on the iPhone (All other devices use BT). By the end of the year we expect to have close to a million devices in the field. We'd love to add our application to Windows Phone 8...but without BTLE support, our customers will have to use the iPhone or Android (if they start supporting it)

This seems like a no brainer. There are tons of new sensors and monitors and other cool companion devices out there or on their way. BLE is a winner.

please say something... this is a feature that is currently hardware supported but not software. if you want the latest and greatest apps you need the latest and greatest tech.

Kovi, Thanks for the comment. You are correct and I'd like to make a small edit to the original post to clarify the Android support, but I'm not sure how. Some Android phones have BLE implementations. Android its self is not supporting it. In fact there is a nice long discussion on the topic here:

Just to clarify, Android doesn't have BLE support, only BT. Samsung and Motorola provides partial support but it's still buggy. iOS is the only platform with more or less generic BLE support. It will be a huge improvement and advantage for WP8 to have full support!

We need Bluetooth 4.0 with support for Low Energy (LE) devices. Bring Windows Phone up to speed with GATT if you want innovation.

I don't believe you can say that you know it has got to be high on the list :( there's no visibility of the list and the hardware spec for wp8 did not include bt le :(
personally I like the suggestion that Nokia, samsung and HTC should just release APIs for us to use...

I know this has got to be high on the list. Since Portico evidently went out without it, we need to get this in the next update. Keeping users who want connection to their sports devices depend on it, and if Microsoft would give and "keep" a commitment on this, it would go a long way. Something like "MS realizes that the support of fitness and lifestyle devices is important to users. For that reason, we pledge to enable their support in March of 2013".
