Dev Platform
Welcome to the Windows Phone Developer Feedback site
This forum focuses on the developer platform (APIs, runtimes, and controls) that you use to build great app experiences for Windows Phone. Additional WPDev forums are available using the links along the right of the page. Consumer features suggestions should be submitted to the Windows Phone Suggestion Box site (http://windowsphone.uservoice.com/).
Suggestions provided via the WPDev UserVoice forum will be reviewed and read by the Windows Phone developer platform team, providing feedback to help with planning ideas and to better understand how developers are using the development platform, and all suggestions will be considered.
Two important notes about this site: (a) List items (and item rankings) represent community interest in features, and does not represent an actual priority list for the product team; and (b) Suggestions made using this forum will be moderated if they do not actually represent a feature request.

API for change and delete calendar appointments
It is great that you now can write to the calendar database but there is not any API for change or delete an appointment?
1,481 votesThank you for the suggestion and the spirited commentary. We did not add this capability in the 8.0 release, but know that it is high on the consideration list for future Windows Phone releases.

Enable Offline Storage for Maps Control Tiles
The TileSource class enables developers to provide custom tile sources for the Bing Maps control (such as OpenStreetMap), but requires an absolute URI to provide tiles. Given the frequently disconnected nature of WP7 applications, it would be better if it was possible to provide tiles from isolated storage to enable map downloading and access to maps when offline.
863 votesThanks folks for the commentary.
I’m marking this as ‘Under Review’ and changing the title to better reflect the commentary in the thread (which differs from the title of the suggestion).

Separate volume as android and ios, a single volume for app and for system is a poor choice. It's essential.
a separate volume would be perfect as it allows to handle the volume of an app much more simply.

PasswordBox with Number only keyboard
it would be helpfull to have a passwordBox like control which supports Number only keyboard. Numeric only passwords makes more sense for Smartphone world as its fast, convenient and easy to type.

MediaPlayer.PlayPosition should be able to be set
If my users want to move through a song a little bit, there is no way to do that, as MediaPlayer.PlayPosition is read only! Should be able to set it.

Deep zoom & pan / multiscale image
I request that the MultiScaleImage library to be able to access isolated storage. There are many places where apps will not connect to a cell tower [e.g. in a general aviation (or commercial) aircraft where cell phones do not work well [it is illegal to use in any case] and also in isolated rural areas. Also, why pay data charges to view the same image over and over [aren’t music & photo libraries stored on phones?] And finally memory is very cheap. Some suggest that large images (even broken into tiles) are inappropriate for storage on a phone – that…

Show scrollbars in WebBrowser control
Please show the scrollbars in the WebBrowser control. For details and a workaround that's not working as smooth as it is when it was implemented in the control itself.

Support multiple media elements
To support things like midroll video advertisments, multiple MediaElements are needed. This is supported in Silverlight for the web.

Assign icon from IsolatedStorage to ApplicationBarIconButton
Currently you can assign to ApplicationBarIconButton an icon present on your project as 'content'. This basically means you have to determine your icons at design time.
By providing the ability to assign an icon placed on the IsolatedStorage, the developer will be free to create button icons at runtime, dynamically download them from other places etc.

Better integration with system tray
Would be nice to have the possibility to set background color, icon color, etc. not just hide or show.

keyboard
Allow the user the option of choosing a non qwerty keyboard layout, as a full keyboard can be really frustating at times due to the small keys.

TextBox height or width can beyond 2048 pixel limitation.
I understand the max size limitation to control. And there are some approach to work around on most of the controls. However, for some control, e.g. TextBox, it's a big problem.

Office Document Viewer Control
Provide a viewer for viewing office documents (e.g. word, excel and powerpoint basically). The UIWebView in iPhone support serveral formats and give a very good user experiences in some content related apps

Gmail Todo List Account Sync
Please allow the access to Gmail's Todo list sync when a google account is added on the windows phone. Under calendar I see the todo list of hotmail and I like it, it would be great if I can add the gmail's ones too and have the ability to make changes when sync happens or just have the ability to add todo items and those get sync to the phone.

Create a new Route object without using RouteQuery
Windows Phone 8 includes a new Map control. It has a new feature to add a route that will be displayed under street names. Street names over the route will be shown in another color and are moved to stay always in center. To add a route to the map you have to create MapRoute object that accepts only Route object in it's constructor. But Route object does not have public constructor. The only possibility to create Route is RouteQuery class. This is a problem! RouteQuery uses online service to calculate the route. Apps can't show the traveled route at…
