My app has started yestarday to show up at the complete end of ALL search results
My app is called "Chess Beauty 3D" and it was ranked very high in all related search results. It also does have many good reviews.
July 15th out of nowhere it has fallen down at the complete end of ALL search results, no matter what they are. It has also disappeared from the "new" and "best free" listings of its parent category (strategy+simulation) despite being very high in them just a day earlier.
It was ranked 5th at "chess", but at that day it fallen down by approximately 450 places to the complete end of that list. The same has happened with all other searches, even directly related to my app. Please refer to the search results below to see what I'm talking about.
My app was previously 5th at "chess":
1st at polish keyword "szachy" (eng. "chess"):
2nd at polish keyword "warcaby" (eng. "checkers"):
Search results for the phrases which reference my app almost directly are also impacted by this problem:
It's not acceptable as this directly discriminates my app. Please respond asap because right now I get 10 times less new users than before.
There is at least one other thread with the same issue:
We experienced the same with a new release. The app was rising up to the top ~7 in the us new+rising list until we submitted an update. One day after the update the app wasn't anymore in the new+rising or top list and a search for a word used in the title + keywords results in a couple dozend apps with zero ratings before ours which is close to the last place.
Support answered concerning this they only guarantee that the app is searchable and nothing else. I even sent them links with the three threads from here about the same issue and they said all I can do is to post here and someone from microsoft might read and fix the issue. But fixing it means probably only the cause so apps who are allready at the end of all three lists won't have a real chance to get back.
I'm posting here mainly to inform others that it looks to us like its related to updates. So if you don't update your apps you are probably on the save side in relation this.
Here is what we observed concerning downloads after the release with some notes for clarification:
same happening to me too.. all my app reaches 1st in "new raising" and some even comes to top 10 of "top free: , stay there for few days, then i cant find in any whr all sudden,, inspite of having 1000's of 4 * above reviews, they are just getting thrown away from categories as well as searches.
please fix the issue, this really affects the efforts we put , and make us stop developing for the store if this ways our apps gets unlisted..
this was in top (1st) in every country till today.. and now no at last
same happend with other apps too.
, even others app of mine. you can check there ratings..

same thing happened to my app http://www.windowsphone.com/en-gb/store/app/shoot-the-apple/c0a761d9-06fa-4c2f-acc8-b96c43cd4b94
It may be something wrong with our accounts, not apps. I've published only one app and can't confirm that further, but I've found this publisher:
All of their apps are on the last place possible in all searches despite getting many good reviews.
You've also stated that this has happened with few of your apps, not just one. It possibly may be some pattern.
@Peter That's exactly how I feel. Sadly, if this won't be fixed, explained or investigated, I will have to migrate to the other platforms and won't publish anything for Microsoft from now on. It's depressing though, as I've already invested few months of work and a lot of money on my app.
That what happens here is completely unpredictable and also rude as we both didn't got any communication from the Microsoft. I've contacted the dev support before posting here and got info that my app wasn't penalized for any reason. Right now, however, I don't see any other explanation.
My app has passed the certification and meets all the requirements. It also has good reviews and people seem to like it. What's the problem? Why is it ranked lower than mass produced apps with zero reviews?
I still have some hope that it's some strange bug in the search engine.

This happened to me this week an App of mine "A Game of Tones" was ranked No. 1 on a new&rising list in Ireland and completely removed from all new lists worldwide the following day. At the start of the year a windows 8 app got to No. 5 on all free games and No. 1 on new games in Brazil and the next day last place.
If Microsoft won't give any explanation for these dramatic removals from the lists then they might as well be random. I for one will not be investing any more of my time to make apps that might be banished on the whim of some anonymous person. So far this has happen five times to my apps perhaps more. I have unpublished all my apps but can't get back the 600,000 copies already downloaded.
