Dev Center + Store
Welcome to the Windows Phone Developer Feedback site!
This forum focuses on the Dev Center (which includes the developer portal, back-end services, analytics and process) and Windows Phone Store. Additional WPDev forums are available using the links along the right of the page.
Suggestions provided via the WPDev UserVoice forum will be reviewed and read by the Windows Phone application platform team, providing feedback to help with planning ideas and to better understand how developers are using the WP development platform, and all suggestions will be considered.
Two important notes about this site: (a) List items (and item rankings) represent community interest in features, and does not represent an actual priority list for the product team; and (b) Suggestions made using this forum will be moderated if they do not actually represent a feature request.
NOTE: This is not a support site; for Dev Center or Store issues, open a support ticket! :)

purchased applications backup
Now, if an application you purchased is removed from the marketplace, in case you need it you will not be able to redownload it and you will lose that app forever (wasting the money you spent).
This is not acceptable: purchased apps must be available forever!

Provide more detail on app submissions in process.
I have an app that has been sitting in post-submission, "pre" certified status. Would be nice to know why it's been sitting there for a week, in that state.

Application pricing in the marketplace
At the moment, if someone buys an application, they get all future versions of that app with no further funding to the developer. This is typical of a mobile phone app marketplace but not how it generally works with desktop applications where you might be expected to pay an "upgrade" fee to go from, say, version 1 to version 2.
Can we please have something similar for the WP7 marketplace (and, indeed, the Win8 marketplace)? In other words, developers would be at liberty not only to set the original purchase price but an upgrade price to go from a given…

Faster certification process for publishing and updating apps and games
It would be great if the time it takes for an app or game to be certified was shorter. A full 2 weeks before an app or game is published to the Marketplace is far too long. It would be more bearable if theupdates had a shorter turnaround time, but they don't. Want to push an update? That's another 2 weeks.
Also some moderation of the marketplace would be great to get rid of all the clutter or misleading apps.

Weed out spam applications during certification process
The amount of spam applications, apps that are split out into several regions (i.e.: MyTranspo series), the ridiculous feed readers for all different musicians and whatnot, single book applications, and do-nothing apps (i.e.: the stuff published by "Eric_rulz")... This is just absolutely ridiculous. You already promised to take care of this, but it didn't work. We've still useless applications flooding the Marketplace, and there are no signs of it slowing. I believe that, instead of limiting the amount of certifications per user per day, the Marketplace should be a little better curated. Spam applications should not be approved. They should…

Merge the Windows and Windows Phone dev centers into one
The Windows and Windows Phone dev centers are totally different from each other. Other platforms manage to have a single dev center for phone and tablet. Please fix this soon by BUILD 2013 or the end of the year if needed.

Report Apps
We need the ability to report dangerous, misleading or malicious apps.
There doesnt seem to be any easy way to report an app that either doesnt work as described or collects more information than it should
One example is an app to browse an sql server, it doesnt inform you that it uses a proxy and connection apptemts continued long after i closed the app
Another example is the "Chrome Browser" which isnt what it claims to be, its an xaml page with a webbrowser control
I appreciate that microsoft may miss things like that, so please give us the…

active installations Vs total downloads
It would be good to know not only the number of downloads but also how many are active still.
If you have seen the google store they show active installations more prominently than total download count - and that actually makes sense considering the amount of trash apps going around in all the phone o/s .18 votes -
Don't delete Apps when App Hub Account is deleted/expires
I find it very strange that every app I have made during my one year membership as a developer is deleted the second I cancel my membership. Microsoft can run things however they want, but I think this is going to kill a lot of innovation and send it off to Android or iOS where you have to pay to publish apps, but apps don't get deleted if you don't pay again or if you cancel your account.
End users are also going to get very annoyed when Apps they have paid for disappear. If Windows phone is going to…

Expedited approval process for existing apps
Although I can't be certain, I get the impression that updates and metadata changes go into the same approval queue as everything else, and that generally there is only one approval queue.
I don't think this is the best approach. For a new app, an extra few days for approval won't make any difference. But existing apps may have an existing audience which is impatiently waiting for either a bug fix or a new feature. This applies moreso to a critical bugfix, or a metadata error fix, where every second of delay is actively damaging the reputation of the app.…

Crash Reports with app version and count
Crash reports would become really useful if they would show the version off the app that caused the crash so that we can see when we fixed an issue.
And the number of times the crash happened so we can see the urgency to fix.17 votes -
Ensure app submission keywords actually relate to the app
Right now we are seeing other non-related apps piggybacking off our brand search results despite they have nothing to do with our app simply because they added our brand to their keywords (which are hidden to end users)
Seeing our brand surrounded by Fart apps, airhorns, gimmicks and half-naked women is unsatisfactory.

See more details of an apps progress through the 'Processing certification' step, in our dashboards?
It would be nice to see a more detailed indication of progress through the certification process. Processing certification step feels like a stall point in to process. A percent complete or "on step 1 of 40" would work fine. The more details included the better.

Completely separate marketing submissions from XAP submissions & allow multiple submissions
Twice now, my app has failed certification due solely to marketing content. It has taken me 14 days to update a major crashing bug in my app because the certification process is inconsistent and poorly designed. I can't update the marketing text on my app to tell people a fix is on the way, because you can't have more than one submission in at a time.
This design is ridiculous. XAP submissions should go through one channel, and marketing changes should go through another. If you submit both at the same time, and the XAP passes but the marketing content…

Once the Marketplace opens for new countries, allow devs to migrate their apps from the current publishers into their own AppHub accounts.
When the Marketplace becomes available in my own country and I will have my own AppHub account I would like to be able to migrate my apps from the current publisher, without deleting and resubmitting the apps and losing all the ratings and ranks and downloads that I have so far. Thank you.

The problem and possible solution for developing games with different hardware
I want to explain and request a new system that should make it easier for developers and consumers to know if a phone can handle certain games.
We all know that the coming year means new hardware for WP7. At this moment all the WP7 phones have Adreno 200, but the new qualcomm chips will have 205 and in the feature maybe 220. We also have a confirmation that Nokia will use dual-core chips from ST-E. So the future will breng us more advanced hardware.
But as a developer how should you deal with the difference in hardware when developing…
