Universal Windows Platform
Welcome to the Windows Platform Developer (WPDev) Feedback site. This feedback forum provides the WPDev community with a channel for feedback on the following topics:
- Windows developer platform (APIs, runtimes, and controls)
- Dev Center Store (developer portal, back-end services, reporting/analytics and process)
- Windows Stores (Windows and Windows Phone)
Your suggestions will be reviewed by the Windows platform developer team, providing feedback to help with planning ideas and to better understand how developers are using the development platform.
What this forum is not intended to cover or capture:
- Windows Phone consumer suggestions
- Visual Studio suggestions
- Documentation suggestions/bugs
- For .NET or Visual Studio bugs, please use the VS Connect site
If you’re new to this whole UserVoice thing, we’d like to note two important things about this site: (a) List items (and item rankings) represent community interest in features, and does not represent an actual priority list for the product team; and (b) Suggestions made using this forum will be moderated if they do not actually represent a feature request.

Show a paid app w/ a "trial" option in the "free apps" category
When I create a paid app with a trial option, many users blow right by it because it doesn't show up in the "free" category even though a light version of the app is free (via the trial).
Some people are resorting to the super-inefficient Apple app store method of releasing 2 versions of the app... one that shows up in the "free" category and another that runs as a paid app. The "trial" is a fantastic concept, but it is hobbled by this oversight

Provide fix for c101a7d1 when updating, 80004005 when installing, license reset on reinstall
Microsoft Support recommended me to post the issue here. There seems to be a long-standing serious issue with the Store (or possibly the dev portal) which needs to be addressed urgently. There's a history of apps affected by this issue and possibly more apps to be affected in the future if the issue goes unfixed.
The problem starts after a certain app update. The symptoms are as stated in the title. Certain users who had installed the app prior to the problematic update are affected. Fresh users are not affected by this issue. While it is possible to reinstall the…

Fight spam/fraud apps more aggresively
There are several developers using dishonest methods to boost their apps, including fake ratings. Those apps are as good as useless to consumers (cheap website wrappers etc.) and still have dozens of maximum ratings shortly after being released. Those apps get ranked high in the listings and take away the place of the few others that actually are good.
Reporting usually takes several days or more than one week until something actually happens. Also, I've heard that MS just warns those devs, but even lets them keep obvious fake max ratings. This just makes me angry as a serious developer!

Provide ability to transfer ownership of app including IAP transfer
Some people have had other developers submit apps to the marketplace on their behalf for many reason. They may have been in a country that is not supported for example. More then one developer may have worked on the app and are now splitting. Some people may sell their apps to others.
In all these cases it breaks the update cycle for existing users because the new owner would have to create a new app instead of updating the existing one.
608 votesStarting this month apps can be transferred from one account to another. To start the process you need to open a support ticket to start the process. Once you submit the request, you’ll get a checklist (for example you need to finish any pending submissions, export the reports). The acquisitions, reviews history and users are transferred, though the historical revenue is not transferred. The feature is available to every app, except if the app has IAP – support for IAP is being investigated for the future.

Windows phone store should show total number of app downloads (All Markets) as well as ratings and reviews should be total of whole world
Windows phone store should show total number of app downloads (All Markets) as well as ratings and reviews of All Markets instead of showing rates and reviews based on region because it doesn't give a broad view and if by chance in any country there are no reviews on your app and someone want to download your app he might not just because he can't find it first of all (Cuz no rating) second he/she will think app doesn't have any reviews so it is not so good. It might happen that app can have so many reviews on other…

Support for submission packages through API or bulk import
A developer would like to ease the app submission process by being able to upload an app submission as a single archive package per submission. This archive (could be a ZIP file) should contain all of the meta-data (could be as an XML file) and supporting files (e.g., XAP, screenshots, etc.) that the Store team needs to ingest the app and provide it to the store. Apple provides a similar capability via iTunes Connect (https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/LanguagesUtilities/Conceptual/iTunesConnect_Guide/8_AddingNewApps/AddingNewApps.html).
This capability would not only enhance the submission experience, but it would also allow for Store submissions to be added and tracked in…

Make it harder to decompile sources from appx packages
Windows Phone Silvelight XAPs were signed, so anyone donwloading them through the Store (manual download) could not have easy access to the sources of the app.
Now with Universal apps / WinRT (.appx), our binaries are not longer signed as a whole, any script kiddie can unzip and decompile any app.
That's a huge problem regarding developer investing on the platform.

Convert an individual account into a company one
I started as a sole developer, and now there's a group of us, and we are registered as a business with IRS. I would like to be able to convert my individual account in the Marketplace into a company one without losing my publisher name, my brand, my app portfolio and my user base. It is a common scenario in the "real" world, so why should it be impossible in the Marketplace?

So this feature does not convert one account to another type, but allows a developer to create a company account and then transfer apps from an individual account to the new company Dev Center account.

Allow users with the developer role to create app packages in Visual Studio
It's great that the Dev Center now allows multiple users to access the same account, and I can submit app packages as a user with the developer role: https://msdn.microsoft.com/library/windows/apps/mt489008.aspx.
However, it would be even better if it allowed users with the developer role to create app packages in Visual Studio. At the moment, it is impractical for me as a developer to keep asking my boss for his Microsoft account just to create app packages.

active installations Vs total downloads
It would be good to know not only the number of downloads but also how many are active still.
If you have seen the google store they show active installations more prominently than total download count - and that actually makes sense considering the amount of trash apps going around in all the phone o/s .187 votesThanks for the suggestion. I’m marking this as under review to note that the teams are aware of this suggestion and that it is under consideration.

Show numbers of App Details 'Page Views' in the store for Phone and Store apps
It would be really good to see numbers on how many people go to an app's page in the store so we can compare it to download numbers.
This would help us to gauge if the screenshots, description and tile are being effective in driving downloads. This is information that we have no way to ascertain and would help us to greatly determine our ‘curb appeal’.
Tools like this could help Windows developers to be much more successful and in turn attract more skilled developers to the platform.

Support To New Applications (New & Rising list)
Platform should support new applications that are not big companies'. In these days all new applications don't appear in New+Rising category, and some new applications are dying. We have communicate with Microsoft Support about this situation and they said "We don't promise "New applications always enter New+Rising category" to developers. It is so embarrassing for small companies or freelance developers. You should support new applications, you should support us.

Better marketplace filtering
Allow filtering of marketplace results within categories beyond pay/free/top/new by adding filter by rating (ex: 4+), by price (ex: <$1.99), by number of downloads (ex: 10000+), or allow blacklisting of developers (or developer rankings) so spam apps and spam devs could be avoided.

Need more info for stack trace
Now with Win10 Dashboard the stack trace only provide a snippet of the error which is included in the error lines. However with the new dashboard this is the only information that is provided on the dashboard. It's not enough for devs :(
123 votesCan you include in this user voice entry the specific details of what is missing? we are working on improving these reports, and the more specific information we have about issues the more we will be able to add.

Use beta apps also on Windows
Today only Windows Phone Store allows creation of beta and hidden apps. The Windows Dev Center does not allow that. It is very important that we support beta for both Windows Phone and Windows.

Support Monthly/Yearly subscriptions for app purchasing.
As app developers we are currently stuck with 2 methods of generating revenues 1) one time app payment 2) Ads.
I would like to see a monthly/yearly subscription model introduced that let me charge users $5 a year for my app for example.
This would mean we could make ad free apps that developers are motivated to keep adding features to over time since they are generating ongoing revenues.
