APIs for Geofencing and location-based reminders
Microsoft should expose GPS based API's that can trigger after say 5 min or 10 min departure from a specific GPS location. This would be very usefull in apps in customizing the reminders.
A lot of scenarios require "always-on" geo location like location based reminders. Both iOS and Android have geofancing APIs and are highly efficient (requires only 1% battery life per hour). Would be great to be on par with other platforms. Thanks
With Windows Phone 8.1, the platform now supports the creation of apps that can be triggered based on location/geo-fences.
If you haven’t already done so, check out the new capabilities and see if they work for your needs.

Would be great to creat am alarm based on GPS. Like, at my "home", play at 7pm. At my bride's home, play at 9pm
I hope this gets added within my current phones lifetime (lumia 920).

FYI I am building an app that does just that... I'll be sure to update this thread when it is published in the store.

A better approach is the top-voted thing in this category: the ability to get location info more frequently in a background task. While this Q is a good idea, it's also a single-use idea which the other would also cover since you could do whatever you want with the info.

I know there is backgroundagent but it can run only once in 30 minutes which makes the reminder useless.
