How can we improve the Windows dev platform?

Fix Bing Maps control for slow connection

When there's only a slow network connection available, the Bing Maps control freezes when the user hits the hardware back button. This delay can take up to 30 seconds after which it can even happen that the app is terminated by the OS.

The bug has already been documented in multiple forum threads:

The mapping engine in Map controls in Windows Phone 8 and beyond uses a significantly different mapping engine via HERE, and it should not have the same problems on slower network connections. Developers would need to adapt their map API usage to the newer Map control interfaces (such as Windows.UI.Xaml.Controls.Maps.MapControl) to get to this benefit.

Really hope Microsoft fixes this bug, since there seem to be no workaround for it, and it will make my app look really bad. Since the whole app will hang, and the whole phone can appear sluggish for a while after this happens.
