active installations Vs total downloads
It would be good to know not only the number of downloads but also how many are active still.
If you have seen the google store they show active installations more prominently than total download count - and that actually makes sense considering the amount of trash apps going around in all the phone o/s .
Thanks for the suggestion. I’m marking this as under review to note that the teams are aware of this suggestion and that it is under consideration.
Thanks for the update, Adrian.
Since recently our Application Insights account was forcibly transferred to HockeyApp.net service, should we think about HockeyApp from now on as about aforementioned "alternate method" or you are building something else?

Couple of themes in this thread - providing access to usage data and a set of attributes that can help identify user segments.
For user segments - we announced the feature at /build and are on a path to make available to the DevCenter insider ring. Look out for announcements on this shortly.
With regards to usage v acquisition. We are re-working our usage analytics - previously you could obtain this if you instrumented your app with Application Insights. An alternate method is in the works.

Cliff, could you please give us any update on the matter - whether you guys still reviewing whether it is worth doing at all or really thinking make it real in a, well, not so distant future?
Now WP is the real 3rd platform in the market. My business partners/product managers would like to know our REAL numbers.
Otherwise I have more idea:
- how many people removed the app after an update?
- uninstalls are more or less than 1 week ago?
- sex of users
- age of users

Very great idea! It makes a lot difference that we have either:
a) 1000 downloads, and 950 of them are removed from phone
b) 500 downloads and 100 are removed from phone.
That would be really great
