This feature would show the source location (line & column) of a message logged via console.*.
- Same look and feel as other messages that have source information
- Applicable to console (info, warn, error, assert, log, dir, dirxml, time/timeEnd)1 vote
It takes too long to switch between Document Modes in IE11, please introduce keyboard shortcut for power users to switch between document modes without having to enter F12 developer tools always e.g. CTRL+SPACE+(X) etc31 votes
The F12 tools currently don't work well with frames.
We are already working on a version of our application that does not use frames any more. However, we will have to support existing releases of our software that use frames for at least a year or longer. Beeing unable to use F12 tools in IE11 with our old releases is really annoying and requires us to use VMs with IE10 to diagnose issues.6 votes
Select an area in the display area and then right click and View-Source to view the source of that element alone.13 votes
Provide a timeline like in Flash or Expression that allow me to verify CSS animations, how they work on current page, etc. I just wan't to enable some CSS that start animation, pause animation, check current CSS values, and resume31 votes
While editing as HTML in the Elements tab, I would like to have Emmet support for faster HTML typing. It would be specifically very helpful in testing environment for the speed.26 votes
The current Layout displays auto when a height or width is not explicitly defined. This is useful as it is correctly displaying the value. However somewhere outside of that it would be very useful to see the calculated height and width for the element.
Preferably this would be in the Layout area, although it could also be useful when selecting DOM elements. This is feature parity with Firefox and Chrome.10 votes
I would like to see the functionality to see multiple tabs (like network and sources) together in Dev Tools.

Many JS frameworks still use constructs like
Which, when "Break on all exceptions" is enabled, hurt debugging a lot.
It would be nice to exclude some lines like this do-some-browser1-specific-stuff(); from breaking.3 votes
Make the clear / disable cache buttons actually do something...
Since forever they just look pretty and don't actually change anything.10 votes
Automatically update input value property when its change. For example, when I input something in google search box, it continues show me empty string, but I can see result page with different value textbox above(http://bit.ly/1sWMoqr).10 votes
May seem minor, but please change the start recording icon in Network, UI, Profiler etc to a record icon rather than a play icon.
(Play/pause is obv correct for the debugger tab as its a different process going on)14 votes
Make option to auto preview changes without hitting "enter".3 votes
Please include the current "zone" in the IE F12 Developer Tools. Aka "Internet Zone", "Intranet Zone", etc.4 votes
When I have the tools open, but I'm interacting with another window, it takes two click on the developer tool's header before it will do anything.
So if I want to move the F12 tools and I'm currently interacting with a tab in IE (not the tools), I have to click once on the header of the F12 tools and then click again before it will let me drag it around.5 votes
When I debug a page that loads most of the content async, I would like a way to keep the selected DOM element until the async request is loading. This means that I don't have to traverse the tree every time to find the element I'm currently working on.3 votes
This feature would expose syntax errors to a developer who has a file open in the F12 debugger.
The item is on the backlog near the top and we hope to start on it soon, no dates yet though.
- Will have a number of limitations (e.g. not applicable to eval code)
- Will not modify the state of the DOM/Objects/Closures etc.175 votes
We’ve started work on edit and continue in the F12 debugger. It’s going to take us a while as it’s a complex feature with many moving parts. The first part we’ll tackle is applying changes when you’re not at a breakpoint. So you could do something such as editing an event listener then trigger the event again. No dates for when, or if, we’ll be able to deliver it.
This feature would add the ability to set the focus and active pseudo states from the DOM Explorer pseudo state checkboxes.
- New checkboxes on the pseudo state toggles
- Force on only no force off (off toggle state will follow browser default)78 votes
Emulating :active / : focus / :hover / :visited are all now supported in the Edge Developer Tools. Try this out in the latest Windows Insider Preview builds!
- Don't see your idea?
