Microsoft Edge Developer
Hi, are you a web developer or designer?
“No, I just want to share feedback on Microsoft Edge.”
Please use the Feedback Hub (requires Windows 10) to submit your feedback in the Microsoft Edge category. This site is for web developer and designer feedback only. Other feedback will be closed without action.
“Yes, I’m a web developer or designer with feedback for the Microsoft Edge platform.”
Great! This site is where the Microsoft Edge team collects feature requests from the web developer and designer community in the categories listed to the right. For bugs on existing features, please log an issue on the Issue Tracker.
Your feedback will help us with planning and to better understand how web developers and designers are using the platform. Top standards-based feature requests will also be copied over to status.microsoftedge.com, where you can track its development status.
For the most actionable feedback, please search and up vote for existing suggestions before submitting a new suggestion, and create a separate suggestion per idea. Note that off topic or inappropriate suggestions may be moderated. The Microsoft Edge team will use suggestions as an important input, but there are several additional factors that inform the final roadmap.
A note from our lawyers: Please do not send any novel or patentable ideas, copyrighted materials, samples or demos which you do not want to grant a license to Microsoft. See the Terms of Service for more information.

Auto Update Older IE Versions
Force older versions of Internet Explorer to automatically update.
7,359 votesOn December 15th of 2011 Microsoft made a big change that largely goes unnoticed by the vast majority of users; updates to Internet Explorer began to happen automatically.
Today, Microsoft continues to install the latest updates for Internet Explorer supported by the user’s operating system without getting in the way. With Internet Explorer 10 we also added a UI control to the “About Internet Explorer” window which gave the end-user easier control over this process.
Understandably there are some situations in which auto-updates are not desired. For instance, enterprise customers may (and do) choose to opt-out of these updates due to a reliance upon older versions of Internet Explorer internally.
Tasked with supporting legacy applications, while also supporting the advancing web, the Internet Explorer team developed Enterprise Mode for Internet Explorer 11. This feature is designed to grant the user all of the security and speed of a modern browser,…

Allow Edge to be updated on its own
Microsoft isn’t updating Edge via the Store as originally promised. Edge updates seem to be held back for major new versions of Windows 10, unlike Windows 10’s other included apps, which are updated more regularly. A good example is the big Nov 2015 Windows update which is the only way to get Edge 25 with EdgeHTML 13 including the drag & drop file fix.
As a web developer I can safely assume Firefox and Chrome users are on the latest version (we don't support the versions pre auto-update). I can't for Edge because major Windows updates are non-trivial and not…

headless browser for testing
It would be great if IE could be started as a headless browser (like PhantomJS) for running unit tests, taking screenshots, measuring load time, etc without having a browser window pop up. Running automated tests on IE often fails because the browser either fails to start up or shut down properly. With a headless browser multiple browser instances can be run in parallel without taking up screen space.

Change development cycle for frequent updates
IE falling behind before it was released. All major browsers has release cycles less than IE has between announcement and release.
Also, old version do not get updates.
Drop version from name and start actively supporting IE.372 votesWe hear you! Updates to the latest Microsoft Edge previews are now rolling out every 2-4 weeks via the Windows Insider Program.

Expose EdgeHTML C++ API
Traditionally, MSHTML (a.k.a. Trident) could be used to parse and process HTML, making applications such as pulling, sorting, de-duplicating news feeds possible. It would be great to be able to use the new HTML5-compatible EdgeHTML engine for this purpose.

Provide Component Object Model access to EdgeHTML
COM is a great interface for all kinds of Windows apps to access Microsoft Edge. By providing COM access, Windows-based automation, including .NET (C#/VB/PowerShell etc.) and native C++, with Microsoft Edge is possible. At this time, InternetExplorer.Application object cannot be used to access EdgeHTML, so please expose COM for Windows developers!

Build an Edge version of System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser Control
The WebBrowser control is a commonly used control in desktop application development. (e.g. It's a key component of the Dynamics CRM Universal Service Desk application)
There is no way to use the EdgeHTML as the rendering engine for this control (only IE/Trident is available).
Although JavaScript heavy applications (such as Dynamics CRM) work in IE, they perform significantly better in Edge.
Making these performance gains available to users of desktop applications would dramatically improve their user experience.

Assigned Access
Edge is supposed to be UWP!? Then why can't I choose it as the assigned app when setting up an Assigned Access Account in Windows 10 Pro? Edge really needs to support this Windows 10 feature. We are currently forced to download a third party browser app from the store to use a browser in this mode.

Support for Cookie max-age
All other browsers allow cookies to be specified with a max-age property that replaces the expires timestamp. This allows servers to have cookies that work regardless of the clock skew on an end users computer.

Automatic SSL certificate selection based on URL
Google Chrome has a group policy "AutoSelectCertificateForUrls". IE could offer a similar functionality to say "this certificate is for these URLs", that is a list of URLs to be maintained per certificate. Or map URL patterns to certificates based on their attributes, e.g. Issuer or FriendlyName. The IE then automatically selects the right certificate and the user is freed from the decision, which certificate to choose, especially if he has more than one from the same Root CA. The certificate selection dialog is then only needed if the same URL is configured for more than one certificate or no URLs…

Update Vagrant VMs and package ready for WinRM
I'd like to spin up VMs on demand with the latest versions of Selenium, but the vagrant VMs offered by Microsoft are out of date (newer versions can be downloaded from the modern.ie site), and don't offer WinRM for configuring without manual intervention. Improve support for vagrant, and us testers can start to do cool things with testing IE and Edge!

Push Microsoft Edge Webdriver with windows 10 builds
Since Edge driver depends on windows 10 build version, is there any chance for the Edge driver to get shipped with windows 10 builds. something like it gets shipped natively like the native calc.exe in the system32 folder...
This would help a lot with automating test infrastructure...

Increase stability
The IE tabs are crashing and unreliable. I dont want to loose my work so I have to use other browsers.
STR:
1. Open 1-10 tabs
2. Start closing them one by one
at some point some it starts crashing. If not, start again43 votes -
Allow bookmarklets
Internet Explorer, along with every other desktop browser, used to support bookmarklets. These lightweight, easy-to-develop scripts can run on any page and provide valuable functionality to users.
Edge no longer supports bookmarklets.
Surely this is one of the reason that some users refuse to move to Edge, and still use MSIE 11.

Implement Intelligent Tracking Protection (ITP) as in Safari, or equivalent protection
A user-agent should act to protect its user's best interest. ITP is a sensible compromise between no privacy and ad-blocking since it enables advertising without abandoning data protection. Since there is no existing standard, Edge could experiment with an approach different from ITP, but it's a good starting point (and does not break the Web).
