:placeholder-shown CSS pseudo-class
Edge is currently the only mainstream browser that has not implemented this.
:placeholder-shown is thus tremendously helpful when adding any non-trivial styles to input elements for dynamic form-validation etc.
It's not a hard feature to implement.
Without this pseuso-class we are forced to recreate inputs using custom elements which is overkill just to get a little more control over the styling.

Internet explorer partially supports it, how could edge be behind ie on this feature?

Would like to see support for this added - especially for the nice floating labels form feature on Bootstrap. https://getbootstrap.com/docs/4.0/examples/floating-labels/
