Support tiled panes in Windows Console
Let me start by saying that I love the idea of having tabs on the console. But for me, I like to have as much content on one screen as possible. So usually what I like to do is have on monitor with one window on full screen and have multiple consoles within the same window. That way I don't have to switch between tabs...
Here is a example of what I mean: http://imgur.com/7mrfMn9
Rich: While we added tmux & virtual terminal support in Bash in Win10AU, we need better pane tiling, tabbing, layout, etc. in Windows too.
Apologies – wrong button: Marked as “on the backlog” where this ask will remain until we’ve got some higher-priority work out of the way.
Rest assured; we’d love to build a decent tab & tile UI for the console too.

You're kidding right?
I can only assume that the admin responsible for writing that remark is referring to the Linux subsystem.

Well that's ****! Putting Linux in Windows doesn't fix the problem that the consoles in WINDOWS are subpar. I want to be able to have a multiplexer and tabs on powershell and cmd, not have to jump to Unix land to do windows work...
Yes, definitely love the idea of TABS for CONHOST (without buggy ConEmu in the way) and support from TMUX and SCREEN... Windows is getting better and better. Very excited to have Bash on Windows today!
Thanks for pointing out the similar suggestions below. The first was just for multiple tabs - which would be nice, but not awesome. The second I've added to.
ConEmu does a pretty good job of this, but I think with some additional UXP polish, a multi-pane console window would be an AWESOME new addition to Win10.
One of my favorite tools for this kind of functionality in *nix was screen. The ability to attach and detach from running console sessions as well as multiplex visually, if you choose, and also share with others connected to the same machine was fantastic and very useful. Bringing in screen like functionality to the windows console would be fantastic.
Check other users' ideas about tabbed console and "terminal multiplexer":
If added, this should be done together with the tabbed option (see another user idea in this list), because it's just a matter of making conhost.exe using either a tab window control (tabbed view) or spliter controls.
This will be awesome! Many developers would love this feature.

On OSX and Linux, I basically live in tmux, or Byobu to be more specific, knowing I can safely close the window and restart it again whenever I like. There's a real lack of something similar on Windows.
When we are developing software usually we need more than one console at time, for example running a local server (PHP, Node.JS, etc), run GIT commands, etc, then have the ability to divide the console in different areas of work as in Terminator in Linux would make more easy and efficient work of the software developer.
