Support for filesystem watchers like inotify
Currently there is no support for filesystem watchers like inotify.
Because of this tools like bitbake don't work.

inotify support was added in Win10 Insiders build #14942.
Enjoy! :)

Node.js people don't seem to see any benefit, at least it was thought this was part of the issue:

thanks your response. do you know when will it release to official release ?
-
@patrick, you are on an official release, not an insider release (https://insider.windows.com) [view as nightly release of a inprpgress item)
If you don't want to use the WIP build, When the next version of Windows releases, you will get the feature.

This should now work in Windows 10 Insider builds >= 14942.

Any updates on this feature being added? Even if it's just whether I should be expecting a month or two or a year or two
Cheers

Thanks for fixing this :) Do I need to be an fast ring insider to get this feature when it is done? How often is the non-insider version of the WSL updated?

Thanks for treating this issue as a priority. I'm loving WSL but with Webpack failing on several important dependencies it makes this impossible to use for web dev right now :(

@admin, thank you for keeping us informed, and updating the status of this idea. I'm excited about the sockets updates in the latest release, and I know this will get done as soon as it can. I understand that some folks may be impatient, but I think most of us know that software development is not easy. Keep up the good work!
