  1. Add support for TabTip

WPF really lacks the option the properly interact with the TabTip keyboard when developing for touch screens. Windows are not aware of it's presence in terms of resizing and closing and opening it requires writing some hack methods.
It would be nice to have some built in support for this issues.

      • Improve WPF popup

The WPF popup should behave like it's parent app:

If it's parent app is behind another window, the popup should be also.
If you switch to another app, you should be able to click on controls in the popup - not have to click on the parent app behind it first.

If the official word is "use tooltips or child windows always instead of a popup" then they should be depreciated. I believe right now they are a trap for inexperienced developers because the limitations are so unexpected, leading to a lot of wasted time trying to fix.

        • Add a SplitButton control to WPF

All free SplitButton controls I checked so far seem to lack in one way or another. Please add a SplitButton control that looks and acts like a standard control. It should both allow to act like a button (clicking on main body and dropdown arrow open a dropdown) and like an actual split button, where clicking on the main body executes a command and clicking on the arrow opens a dropdown button.

          • High Performance line graph control based on Dynamic Data Display

Support for a high performance line graph control based on (or similar to) the Microsoft Research Project Dynamic Data Display (http://dynamicdatadisplay.codeplex.com/). Dynamic Data DIsplay is great but work on this project appears to have stopped.

                  • Improved validation

Make validation accross entities easier. Something like Workflow rules engine, with dependencies between rules, dynamic loading of rules etc.

                    • integrate/bundle the PixelSense SDK API into WPF or at least use some of its best ideas and provide a "touch" simulator

Integrate/bundle the PixelSense SDK API into WPF or at least use some of its best ideas.

It's not always practical to buy every piece of hardware with touch capabilities or not possible (e.g. people using MacBooks and BootCamp to develop....touch screen doesn't exist).

Also if you are doing testing/development in virtual machines, you are unlikely to have any virtual "touch" hardware available.

So please provide a "virtual touch simulator" as provided (or used to be provided) in the PixelSense SDK. Let it run on Vista, Windows 7, etc....and think about testing...e.g. how can we record gestures and touch events, so…

                      • Make bindable Binding.Source, Binding.Path and Binding.Parameter

Please make Binding.Source, Binding.Path and Binding.Parameter bindable, or at least some of them. This will allow dramatic code simplification. For example, binding to a variable property without Dynamic Properties ICustomTypeProvider, without Reflection and without complex MultiBindings with converters.

                        • First class, generic properties (see Rx) and use of first class observable events (IObservable).

It's a pity that WPF's property and event systems are island in the middle of a bunch of other great runtime-level and library-level enhancements to key concepts like generic properties and observable events. The snippets required for DPs and such are the best testimonials of this archeology.

                          • Support additional region and language settings

There is no way to pass the current culture with to WPF. The IETF language tag is not enough, since all changes in the region and language format settings will be dismissed.

The only workarounds so far are to pass the converter culture to every single binding or to bind only strings.

Similar to the Silverlight Business Application template: A starting point for new developers which includes navigation, basic layout, perhaps some ViewModel pattern stuff.

                              • Make WPF the sole STANDARD for building UI on ALL form factors of Windows.

Instead of having different models/APIs to build a UI for an application (whether Universal Apps or a Win32). WPF (or a more standardized similar form) should be the STANDARD for building ANY UI, and the developer should choose whether to optimize their UI for touch or desktop.
WPF (or this new standard) should incorporate (abstract) ALL other technologies (like native DirectX 11/12 support) and should have an easier, more complete toolset for tasks like building controls, binding, and globalization. Make this the standard of building simple or complex resolution/dpi agnostic, hardware accelerated UI for the unforeseeable future, with full support…

                                    • Port the LayoutStates from Silverlight 4

Animating items insertion and removal makes UI a lot nicer. But it's very hard to do without proper platform support, and you usual have to pollute your data model; and write hacks to prevent execution of commands on removed items, and so on...

Moreover this increases the compatibility surface between WPF and SL.

                                      • Provide a Simplified Webcam/Mic API like Silverlight 4

Both for Silverlight compatibility and for just ease of use reasons. The API in Silverlight 4 is really simple to use. The analogs in the WPF space are significantly more complex. Understood that this may mean implementing some of the SL media pipeline as a consequence.

                                        • XAML simplefication

Hi, it will make developers much more happy if you can simplify XAML syntax and usage, like what you have done to ASP.Net.
XAML did not have any major simplification, since it started.
