  2. Make WPF Cross Platform

    Make WPF design (and maybe even built) apps work on the big 3 platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac), including UWP. This would make using Visual Studio and the WPF framework an unbeatable approach for UI tasks!

    As it is, I am using WPF primarily for prototyping (by only one developer). When it comes to actual development we ditch Visual Studio and use cross platform frameworks and IDEs.

  3. Would like a MRIsland like XamlIsland.

    I want a MRIsland like XamlIsland. I want to go Toolbox -> drag drop MRIsland. Then have a 3D Space like Paint 3D in which I can have all the keyboard and mouse controls to work with my 3D objects. Also want to be able to work with my 3D space as a normal desktop app window or with the MR headset. And last of all I want it as a NuGet package next week. (Please)

  4. Add the ability to reveal a password to PasswordBox

    The UWP PasswordBox has the option to reveal the password in the PasswordBox. The WPF PasswordBox does not have this option. Please add it to the WPF PasswordBox.

  5. Add a HandOffBehavior property to VisualStateGroup

    We have lots of problems with VisualStates overlapping. When two VisualStates modify a controls property, when one of them changes, effects of other VisualState animations on this control's properties are also removed! I tried Inheriting VisualStateGroup and overriding(or even hiding) StartNewThenStopOld that is responsible for this and use it within a custom VisualStateManager but every single property and method are internal!

  8. Resize Window so Touch Keyboard doesn't hide half of the Window

    The Touch Keyboard when shown overlaps a WPF window in Windows 10. This also happens when in Touch Mode. The bottom half of the window cannot be seen.

    Make the Window Resize when either maximised or in Tablet Mode so that users can see what they are typing in

  9. Implement CharacterSpacing (exists in Silverlight) in WPF for a TextBlock (and maybe other text controls)

    In WPF there is currently no way to use character spacing (kerning) in a TextBlock or other text controls (while in Silverlight you have this). Typography is a major part of UI / UX and not being able to set character spacing is something really baffling (even more so when Silverlight has it).

  13. Improve popup positioning in for desktop applications in tablet environment

    WPF popup positioning appears to be interfered with by the tablet PC Handedness settings.

    If set to Left-handed applications work as normal.

    However, if set to right handed then all wpf popups are offset.
    Menus operate correctly in that they pop out to the left, intended for right handed operation) but normal WPF popups are offset also, presumably to leave room for a hand.

    This my be by design but many users have deskops/laptops with touch screens and this setting conflicts with default layout based positioning.

    We are not the only people who have this issue as it has been…

  14. Allow Grid child elements to be defined within ColumnDefintion or RowDefinition

    I use the Grid for most of the XAML I write. Right now it becomes difficult to move controls within a Grid around:

    <Grid>
    <Grid.RowDefinitions>
    <RowDefinition Height="Auto" >
    <TextBlock Grid.Column="0" Text="ABD" />
    <TextBox Grid.Column="1" Text="ABD" />
    </RowDefinition>
    <RowDefinition Height="*" />
    </Grid.RowDefinitions>
    <Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
    <ColumnDefinition Width="*" />
    <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto" />
    </Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
    <Grid>

    Thus anything within a ColumnDefinition or RowDefinition Content would automatically be included in that definition.

  16. Let WPF support multiple UI threads

    I really hate the UI always block by something. We need the UI smooth and never block. even some cheap ARM device UI thread manage area better than WPF.

  17. Desktop support in development, OS's and applications.

    In Microsoft "Mobile first, cloud first" era, that really means "Mobile only, cloud only", is frustrating how Microsoft completely abandon the desktop, including OS's, applications and developing support for desktop. Nobody wants to migrate to the limited UWP mobile model.

  18. Native Vulkan support for WPF

    Because Microsoft will not develop DirectX for Windows 7, its latest desktop OS version since Windows 8.x and 10 are a mobile and limited OS (also ugly), they are not desktop operating systems, Microsoft should support Vulkan in WPF that runs on any version of Windows, including Windows 7 which has the largest market share and installed base, without the need or obligation to update an operating system that nobody wants.

  19. Inconsistency on which speech synthesizers that are available

    I’m developing an app both for WPF and UWP that takes usage of the installed speech synthesizers. I’ve noticed that some voices that are available in WPF (via System.Speech.Synthesis. SpeechSynthesizer) are not available in UWP (via Windows.Media.SpeechSynthesis.SpeechSynthesizer). For instance, on one system I use Windows 10 build 10586.494 with English voices I get:

    WPF:
    Microsoft Zira Desktop
    Microsoft David Desktop

    UWP:
    Microsoft Zira Mobile
    Microsoft Mark Mobile

    On another system I run this Windows 10 build 14383.0 with English and Swedish (new in the anniversary update) voices and I get:

    WPF:
    Microsoft Zira Desktop
    Microsoft David Desktop

    UWP:
    Microsoft Zira…
