  1. ChildWindow

    I really wished that WPF had the child usercontrol template like in sliverlight

  2. Auto-generate ViewModel interface from {Binding} expressions

    Have the XAML designer automatically generate an interface for the ViewModel based on the Binding expressions in the XAML. This would give the MVVM pattern better type-safety and eliminate data binding errors.

  3. Validation with DataAnnotations like in ASP.NET MVC.

    Also make Entity-Framework fully compatible and integrated with DataAnnotations validation.

  4. Better custom chrome support for Window

    It's without a doubt that custom chrome apps are becoming popular, with office as being a leader, and other MS apps.

    It would be great if full support was baked into the window, I am speaking in terms of:

    - Better drop shadow support for borderless windows
    - Retaining animation for minimizing, maximizing windows
    - Aero snap support
    - Fixing issues when WindowStyle is none and maximizing causing it to be in Kiosk mode.
    - Inherent and native support for extending glass into non client area.

    There are far too much hacking, pinvoking to be done just to achieve these…

  5. Allow strongly-typed ViewModels, as in ASP.NET MVC.

    It would be nice to let us specify the type of a ViewModel, as in ASP.NET MVC - this would allow us to catch a whole swathe of binding errors at compile time.

  6. Improved/rewritten RichTextBox especially dictionary languages

    The current RichTextBox implementation is buggy, especially regarding listitems. It is also almost impossible to extend (throwing exceptions on an "unrecognised" DP anyone?) with the biggest culrpit being the SpellCheck which has massively limited language support, but has no way to extend/replace the default checker.

  7. Depricate WPF & settle on evolving Silverlight ONLY! Too difficult building apps for both!

    Please let's just get rid of WPF now, and work on extending Silverlight to have everything you would want in a desktop app as well as a web app. It's too difficult having to worry about building for a superset/subset paradigm.

  8. Support the wpf toolkit on codeplex or kill it.

    Either support it or put it out of its misery. It is a joke at the moment. Look at the people list, it has 3 people as developers, none of which have visited the site in the last 60 days. And of the 25 people listed as coordinators, one has been there in the last 2 months. Support it or kill it.

  9. Improve for overall installation size, memory footprint and cold/cool startup performance

    The minimum size of a empty WPF window might take 50 MB. The installer take 240 MB for 3.5sp1, take 50+ for .net4. And after deployment, it might take 500~ 1000 MB for hard drive. The cold/cool startup is also a issue compared to MFC. But actually, .net 2.0 have the overhead, WPF based on it make it worse. If these issues are hard to resolved, maybe there's some tricky ways to try to resolve them in OS level such as pre-installed, pre-cached some essential modules, ...etc. ( Win7 include 3.p5 sp1 in default, how about in the future for…

  10. D3DImage performance optimizations

    D3DImage is very fast, but it could be faster. The current implementation eats up a good chunk of CPU time, not just GPU time when adding a dirty rect. This may have to do with the flushing of the D3DDevice.

  11. Add a supported way to share XAML between WPF, WinRT and maybe Silverlight

    Yes there are hacks for this but they are all pretty bad. So adding an official way via either #ifdef statements or another method would be a good idea.

  12. Bring MediaElement to parity with the other XAML implementations

    Wpf media element only supports one audio track, cannot be fed an abstract source stream, cannot play smooth streaming, and cannot play dash content.

    We need parity with Silverlight and WinRT. It is not currently possible to render H264 smooth/dash content on the desktop, only in IE!

  13. Add CSS support to WPF

    I would like to be able to use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) for styling WPF/XAML applications. It is much more powerful and easier to edit (not XML) than XAML.

    HTML5 has a very clear separation of content/structure (HTML) on one side and styling/presentation (CSS) on the other. It has multiple i'inheritance' and powerful selectors.

    Styling and vector graphics are the weak spots of WPF. The controls is its strength. I would love to have XAML + CSS + SVG.

  19. Simple peer-to-peer communications between 2 WPF Programs.

    Build some WPF Classes to facilitate extremely simple peer-to-peer communications between two WPF programs running on different computers. Target "Generic HID: over USB, Bluetooth peer-to-peer, and finally, Direct WiFi peer-to-peer.
    In fact, you could bundle all three types of connections into a single class. It could consist of 4 simple functions:
    Handle = Open_Connection(Unique_ID, Connection_Type(USB_Hid| | BlueThooth | Direct_Wifi);
    ReturnCode = Send_Message(Handle, message, messagelength);
    ReturnCode = Receive_Message(Handle, message, messagelength);
    Close(Handle);
    The whole idea is to give programmers lots of power without having them deal with tons of complexity.

  20. XPS document enhancement in WPF5

    1) I'm looking at a design capability for Flowdocument. At present if we need to use VS 2010 for designing XPS document, then unfortunately we will have to place in in Windows XAML within a FlowDocument Scroll Viewer(or equivalent document readers). The Vs 2010 as such does not support FlowDocument as a root in XAML designer

    2) Another important issue is about getting the header and footer in the document. At present we will have to use pagination Wrapper that inherits from DocumentPagination class and do it manually. Can there by much eaiser means to achieve the same.

    3) The…
