In the console at least, this should be feasible. As well as supporting the XTerm shortcuts Shift-Ins to paste, etc... as an alternative to Ctrl-V, Ctrl-C etc.

Hi! Just for other people to be aware of, "ROS" is also the initials of the ReactOS project (that dates back to 1999), an opensource reimplementation of the Windows NT (2k, 2003, etc...) architecture.

EDIT: After double-checking, I saw that the "bug concerning mapping the created screenbuffer into the client address space" was fixed in Windows 8+, so that it only exists in Windows 7 (it would need a dedicated MS patch). However in Windows 7 and Windows 8+ there is still this NtVdmControl call. I personally think this check is totally useless (that verifies whether the caller is a VDM process or not), because from my point-of-view, since conhost.exe runs with the same rights as the client console app, there is no way (normally) to possibly make the whole system crash by exploiting some vulnerability in the console graphics screenbuffers, contrary to what might was possible in Windows <= Vista when the console subsystem was hosted in winsrv.dll/csrss.exe ...

If added, this should be done together with the tabbed option (see another user idea in this list), because it's just a matter of making conhost.exe using either a tab window control (tabbed view) or spliter controls.

    Go, go, go!!
That's nice that finally the windows console/terminal is being rejuvenated! (sadly this should have been done before, starting win7).
Aside, I loved the fact that starting win8 there is some "condrv.sys" that is used (and it makes sense totally when one sees how the console works on MinWin).
